Lyften to Acquire All Remaining Northvolt Assets in Sweden and Germany

Press release August 7, 2025. American battery maker Lyten has agreed to buy most of the assets of bankrupt Swedish company Northvolt.


The sale includes Northvolt’s main battery factory in Skellefteå, its research center in Västerås, and a partly built plant in Heide, Germany. Lyten will also take over Northvolt’s technology and patents.

Sweden Once Again Leads in Innovation within the EU

Sweden has regained its first position as the strongest innovation country in the EU, according to the European Innovation Scoreboard and the Regional Innovation Scoreboard 2025, thanks to among others, innovative SMEs collaborating with others, population involved in lifelong learning and production-based CO2 productivity. In the same report, Stockholm is named the most innovative region in Europe.
