COP29 - Swedish companies lead the way in Baku

Sweden is demonstrating its commitment to addressing global climate challenges at COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan, held from November 11 to 22, 2024. The Swedish pavilion, opening on November 12, will host a business delegation and leading experts, with Business Sweden’s CEO, Jan Larsson, spearheading the initiative. "Swedish companies offer groundbreaking solutions that can drive the green transition globally," Larsson stated. Netherlands and Sweden Strengthen Ties in Sustainable Transport

On November 5, 2024, the Netherlands and Sweden took a significant step forward in their collaboration on sustainable transport by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) during the Netherlands Economic Mission to Sweden and Finland.


The agreement was signed in the presence of key figures, including Dutch Minister for Foreign Trade and Development, Reinette Klever, Ingrid Thijssen, President of VNO-NCW, Jacob Wallenberg, her Swedish counterpart, and Swedish State Secretary for International Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade, Håkan Jevrell. The MoU was formalised between FKG (Scandinavian Automotive Supplier Association) and RAI Automotive Industry NL, with Gabriella Virdarson, Communication & Strategy Officer at FKG, and Pim Grol, Managing Director of RAI Automotive Industry NL, representing the respective organisations.

NFIA Opens New Office in the Nordics

On November 6, 2024, Minister Reinette Klever, Swedish State Secretary Håkan Jevrell, and Hilde van der Meer, Commissioner of the Netherlands Foreign Investment Agency (NFIA), officially opened the NFIA Nordics office.


 

As Hilde van der Meer expressed on LinkedIn, With the addition of our latest office to the global NFIA network, we look forward to nurturing existing business partnerships and supporting companies eager to explore opportunities in the Netherlands to accelerate their growth.”

   
   
   

Sweden Cuts Key Interest Rate by 0.5 Percentage Points

Sweden's central bank, the Riksbank, has announced a significant reduction in its policy rate, cutting it by 0.5 percentage points to 2.75%. This decision, made on November 7, 2024, aims to provide further support to the Swedish economy and help stabilize inflation at the target level.

The rate cut comes in response to declining inflation and persistently weak economic activity throughout the year. Despite expectations of economic improvement, the Riksbank notes that clear signs of recovery remain scarce.
