”It is amazing to watch intelligent young people grow and see them dare new things” says Swedish business executive Tord Magnuson. Parallel to his engagement in Swedish businesses and foundations such as WPO and Interpeace, Tord Magnuson has a passion for mentoring young entrepreneurs. When Tord Magnuson last visited the Swedish Chamber, he shared his perspective on mentorship and expressed that: “I stay in close touch with many young people, especially from the suburbs in Stockholm. Many of them have great ideas and potential but just need someone to talk to, and a helping hand. I think helping and staying engaged is exciting and fun, and I like to make use of my network and resources".

”Businesses play a key role in the green transitions, and they need to be included in the conversations” says H.R.H. Prince Jamie de Bourbon de Parme, Climate Envoy of the Netherlands. On December 15, 2023, the Swedish Chamber of Commerce hosted its highly anticipated annual flagship event, the Sustainability & Innovation Summit “Driving the Green Transition Together”. A highlight of the event was the captivating fireside talk featuring H.E. Climate Ambassador of Sweden, Mattias Frumerie, and H.R.H. Prince Jamie de Bourbon de Parme. Read their shared reflections from COP28, and key takeaways from the moderator Andrea Orsag, sustainability advisor and expert. 

The International Energy Agency presents Sweden as one of the top countries leading the energy transition. Sweden, a global leader in decarbonisation, has ambitious targets to cut greenhouse gas emissions by 59% by 2030 and achieve a net-zero carbon economy by 2045. Additionally, Sweden has the world's highest carbon price. The nation's diverse energy mix, focused on hydro, nuclear, and wind, underscores its commitment to sustainable practices. Sweden's strategic initiatives aim to reduce transport emissions and support industrial decarbonisation, including groundbreaking projects for hydrogen-based steel production.

It is an a non-profit initiative, created in alignment with UN's 2030 Agenda goals. This year's lunch centers on the imperative of global peace as a catalyst for sustainable development. 

Gothenburg Takes the Lead as Mentor City in Europe's Green Transition

Gothenburg, recognized for its leadership in sustainability, joins the European Commission's Intelligent Cities Challenge as one of ten chosen mentor cities. Under the initiative, Gothenburg will guide 65 European cities in fostering innovation for the green transition, aligning with the EU's Green Deal. The city's outstanding collaborations with industries and commitment to carbon reduction make it a key contributor to the initiative, aiming to inspire and support others on their sustainability journeys.
