Saab secures €4bn submarine order from Poland

Patron Member Saab has secured a major contract with the Polish Ministry of Defence for the production and delivery of three A26 submarines.
Valued at approximately SEK 47 billion, the contract also includes weapons packages, training and support, with final deliveries planned for 2038. Designed specifically for the challenging operational conditions of the Baltic Sea, the A26 submarines will contribute to Poland’s defence capabilities and strengthen strategic cooperation between Poland and Sweden.
Saab also plans to establish maintenance, repair and overhaul capabilities in Poland in close cooperation with Polish industry, supporting the country’s strategic autonomy.

Anna Borg, CEO of Patron Member Vattenfall, warns that weakening Europe's CO2 emissions trading system would be devastating for the region's competitiveness, urging faster investment in renewable energy to cut reliance on global gas markets.
She also flags uncertainty around Vattenfall's Zeevonk offshore wind project and the sale of its Dutch heat networks, both hampered by unclear policy and financing conditions.

| | NX Filtration secures "gamechanger" order for European water business |
NX Filtration, based in Twente, will supply membrane technology to a new drinking water plant in Östersund, Sweden, in an order worth €3–4 million. CEO Cuypers calls it a "gamechanger" for the company's European business.
The installation is being built by a consortium led by Swedish Purac. Construction starts in 2027, with NX Filtration delivering the membranes the same year, and the plant will supply drinking water to around 55,000 people from 2029.

Patron Member Polestar reports record first-half sales
|
Polestar, the Swedish EV brand, achieved record sales of 30,423 cars in H1 2026, with 17,296 sold in Q2 alone.
CEO Michael Lohscheller called it a major achievement despite regulatory and market headwinds, citing strong growth in the UK, Germany, South Korea, and the Iberian region.
Retail locations grew 39% year-on-year to 235, as the Polestar 5 nears its first deliveries and the Polestar 4 SUV enters production, with units expected to reach customers in Q4.

We're happy to welcome our new International Management Trainees for 2026–2027 at the Swedish Chamber of Commerce!
Caroline Kullman, recipient of The Scholarship Fund for Swedish Youth Abroad 2026–2027, graduated from Umeå University in 2023 with a Master's in Business, Economics & Management and has since worked as a consultant at Capgemini. At the Chamber, Caroline will focus on Event Management and Business Development.
Arvid Thorstensson, our final International Management Trainee for 2026–2027, is the recipient of The School of Business, Economics and Law at the University of Gothenburg Scholarship 2026–2027. Arvid earned his master's degree from the same school and has previously worked as an audit associate back in Gothenburg. At the Chamber, Arvid will be responsible for our Young Professionals network and Member Relations.
Ellen Berntsson, recipient of Gull & Stellan Ljungbergs Stiftelse Scholarship 2026–2027, recently earned her Master's in International Business & Economics with a specialization in German from Linköping University. Ellen will be responsible for Marketing and Communication at the Chamber.

We are delighted to welcome Emma Wergeland as the new Chair of our Young Professionals Network!
Emma previously joined the Swedish Chamber as a trainee, working closely with our YP network and member engagement. We look forward to seeing her lead the YP community over the coming year.
What are you most looking forward to about leading the YP network?
- ¨I’m looking forward to leading the committee and continuing the strong growth of the YP network.
A key focus for us will be creating relevant and valuable events together with the Chamber Member companies, particularly around sustainability, innovation & tech, and diversity & inclusion.
I also want to continue strengthening the connection between the Swedish and Dutch business communities, and create opportunities for young professionals to connect, exchange knowledge and experiences.¨
What do you hope members will take away from their involvement in YP?
- ¨I hope YP Members get a strong network, new knowledge and a broader perspective. The Chamber and YP bring together a unique group of people with different backgrounds, experiences and connections to Sweden and the Netherlands. I hope our members make the most of that community, both professionally and personally.¨
