 Ben Vree Reflects on His Time as 

Honorary Consul General of Sweden in Rotterdam

In 2024, after 20 years of dedicated service, Ben Vree concluded his diplomatic post as Honorary Consul General of Sweden in Rotterdam. Throughout his assignment, he guided and supported five Swedish Ambassadors, by introducing them to the dynamic business landscape of Rotterdam and, in particular, the Port of Rotterdam. With an extensive career in the maritime sector—including leadership roles as CEO of Smit International and APM Terminals—Ben Vree has an unparalleled view of developments in the port.


Last month, he was honoured at a special lunch hosted by H.E. Ambassador of Sweden, Mr. Johannes Oljelund, in recognition of his long-standing service. The Swedish Chamber of Commerce News Feed took this opportunity to speak with Ben Vree about his experiences, memories, and insights from the past two decades.

Join the Dutch Delegation to EVS38 in Gothenburg – Europe’s Leading Electric Mobility Event

The 38th International Electric Vehicle Symposium & Exhibition (EVS38) will be held in Europe this year, taking place from June 15–18 in Gothenburg, Sweden. As the world’s most prominent professional event in the field of electric mobility, EVS38 offers a unique opportunity to connect, learn, and lead in the global eMobility transition.


The Netherlands will be prominently represented with a dedicated pavilion spanning 150m², featuring several stages—including a Dutch platform—as well as a scientific program stage showcasing the latest advancements and research in eMobility.


Travel Sustainably: Join the eCaravan to Gothenburg

In line with the sustainable nature of the event, travel to EVS38 will be organised via a special eCaravan of electric vehicles and shared mobility. Following the success of the 2019 eConvoy to EVS32 in Lyon, this year’s journey will depart from Utrecht and is being organised in cooperation with the G4 cities: Amsterdam, The Hague, Rotterdam, and Utrecht.

OPEN POSITION: 

Social Secretary at the Swedish Embassy 

This is a full-time position at the workplace with starting date .

June 1, 2025.


Working tasks include responsibility for the Ambassador’s calendar, contacts with the Protocol Department at the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, contacts with Dutch and Swedish authorities and organisations. You will also be responsible for sending-out invitations and coordinating Embassy events together with staff at the Ambassador’s residence. 
   
   
   

Hello, my name is Johan Langerak and I am currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Accounting and Financial management at Uppsala University in Sweden. I am looking for an internship in financial analysis, business analytics, corporate finance, accounting or related fields between August 2025 and January 2026, preferably in the Netherlands. 

 

With previous experience in accounting and an ongoing internship in indirect procurement at Hilti’s HQ in Liechtenstein, I have not only a solid educational background, but also practical experience. I am analytically minded with proficiency in Office 365, Microsoft’s Power Platform, and have worked with SAP. Additionally, I speak English, Swedish and Dutch.
